veloped programs in Progress for small animal farmers such as rabbitries, school applications including a grade keeping program and student information systems.  I also worked towards an advanced degree in Math Education while teaching math subjects including Calculus and pre-calculus classes.

Working for a Manufacturing Co in FL. making program changes and module enhancements to their SYMIX application.  This company has source code for Symix V4 and is working in Char at the present time. I am working with the accounting department, making program changes and additions, re-formatting documents/reports and writing reports to Excel from Progress via ActiveX.   I have also created new financial statement reports specific to the company requirements.   I have also developed new modules in both the V9 CHAR and V9.1b GUI that attach to the Symix database and in-house databases.   My main responsibilities are to the Accounting department but I have worked with all departments in enhancements  and add-ons to the software and ERP system.
Recent Prior Assignments
#1  Custom programming, Progress Language/Systems support and modifications to software for clients of Software Solutions Inc. (SSI), of Duluth, GA; makers of TakeStock Software (see #3 below) and for clients of a software distributor, of Long Island NY, a software distributor for TakeStock. This work is being done via modem deliveries and dial in. All GUI, using the ADM and the editor to create widgets and modify procedures. The contracts are for As Needed/As Available and I have been doing 45-65 hrs per week combined time for these 2 companies since 8/9/99 - 1/3000. 
#2   3 months contract to do Software modifications and maintenance for Software Solutions Unlimited Inc. (SSU), of Albuquerque NM makers distributors of XPONENT and
ULTRAMAIN. I used XPONENT, a PROGRESS BASED software development tool and system management tool, to make changes to ULTRAMAIN, a PROGRESS BASES package designed for transport and fleet maintenance (Airplane, Bus, etc. Asset Management)
#3  10 months contract to do Custom programming and modifications to software for clients of Software Solutions Inc. (SSI), of Duluth, GA; makers of
TakeStock Software) who's product is a distribution package in V8 GUI. My principle contributions have been in estimating, designing, and programming custom modifications for client companies who have purchased the software but want enhancements or modifications, or who want to integrate the software with other packages. All of this work was done on NT and Unix networks using Progress V8.2c using the ADM & preprocessor extension points. I was also able to work with some DDE & ActiveX applications. I have been teaching classes for this company in their programming methods and standards to their business partners.

#4  Conversion of 22 Gig, 7 database mission critical system from Progress V6 to Progress V8. Acting as DBA for the conversion, setting up environment changes and helping with new module development. This is a character environment on RS600 AIX systems. The conversion also involves 4 other systems of various sizes with GUI and CHUI interfaces being created for each using NT and Win95.

#5 Concurrent and ongoing conversion and support as needed and as available: working with a Not For Profit Organization, converting a V6 Contributions and Member System to V8.2 and V9.1C GUI and subsequent support as needed. I have now converted the system to V90C and taken advantage of some of the features of V9.
5/1997-2/1998
I worked on contract at a Govt. site converting V6 to V7 for an HR system and subsequent conversion of the system into V8 Progress. The Operating System was Windows/Novel/NT/Win95 and the server was on a UNIX box. I also developed new GUI/CHUI modules for this application as well as DDE reports & interfaces.
4/1996-4/1997
I worked on contract with a small software developer for the Lumber industry. My duties were to direct the programming effort and to help in the design and implementation of the product for specific client needs. I also implemented structures and standards and "built" a Progress programming Department: hiring professionals and training new programmers.
1993-4/1996 TLG Systems/Database Consulting
#1  Working with a software development company on the service delivery product DISPATCH 1 by Astea International, a PROGRESS based application) doing client specific modifications and enhancements.
#2  Conversion of IBM based manufacturing system into PROGRESS db on VMS: from specification &/or description and integration of new applications with
QAD (MFG-PRO a PROGRESS based application).
#3  Support and modify PROGRESS package (
SYMIX a PROGRESS based application) for manufacturing client. Duties: Create alternative access to DB and input screens to match company procedures, assist in Unix and user support, add capabilities and functions to existing and new PROGRESS systems.
10/1991 - 3/1993
Consultant, Information Systems Consulting, Kansas City, MO.
            a) Setup (Install & Administer) a UNIX environment for PROGRESS development, moving and converting programs from a DOS environment.
             Install PROGRESS on UNIX & DOS systems.
            b) Teach PROGRESS Beginning level & Advanced level courses.
            c) Maintain PROGRESS programs for an in place Retail system (used in approx. 500 retail locations), as well as develop new applications.
             PROGRESS consulting for a system that encompassed phone equipment, calling card assignments, phone billing records and history, company         
             distributed-location information: (personnel, addressing, equipment, facility, and connectivity to company).
             Responsible for developing and implementing a conversion from an HP mainframe, using MPE, to a network Distributed PROGRESS DB system.

3/1990- 10/1991
Computer Consultant, & Programmer/Analyst
Consulting for a wide variety of companies, including church organizations, manufacturing and distribution companies. Providing hardware, software, database expertise, and system design and analysis. Application development had been in PROGRESS, using UNIX, VMS and DOS.

Technical Specialist for DB2, Marine Midland Bank, Buffalo, NY. Duties included: Design and Administration of DB2 Database systems on IBM mainframe equipment. During this time I also developed applications in PROGRESS db and consulted on a limited basis for various companies.
2/1989-9/1989
Database Administrator (DBA), Cessna Aircraft, Wichita, KS. Duties included: Initial star-up of DB2 as a useful administrative tool, the analysis of database applications for the development of database systems in DB2 on IBM 3090 and 3081 mainframes using MVS. During this time I also developed applications in PROGRESS db and consulted on a limited basis for various companies.
1/1987-2/1989
Data base Analyst, Sector Technologies, a division of Polaris Inc. Falls Church, Virginia. Duties included: Develop software for sale, using PROGRESS data base, with UNIX multi-user, XENIX multi-user and single user, DOS single user, and VMS systems on the NCR mini, MICRO VAX, WYSE, TANDON and AT&T micro computers.
